From Alain De Botton’s The School of Life: Botton talks about the philosophical school known as Skepticism, which began in ancient Greece. He reminds us of the value of skepticism when it comes to how we react to our feelings. Feelings and moods are transient things, shaped by, among other things, stress, excitement and fatigue. Our feelings are often not reliable indicators of “what is”. In other words, let’s honor our feelings, but not base our judgements on them.
